Today I got back from a five day vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC. My family grew up visiting those Carolina shores and it felt so good to be back! Sometimes the South gets a bad rep, but I take a lot of pride in my Southern roots! The hospitality, comfort food, and even the thick humidity makes me feel at home.
Yesterday while I was relaxing on the beach, I took a few minutes to soak in the summery moment. My toes buried in the sand, the sound of the waves and Kenny Chesney in the air, and sunshine evaporating the salt water off my skin. That's life, ya'll.
The longer I'm an adult, the more it dawns on me that I won't get another "real summer." And even the weekends in Boston can't compare to the sweet Southern comfort I experience back home. So, the next time I'm sitting at my desk, dying to get outside, at least I have this moment! You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl.
